Vaisala K-PATENTS SAFE-DRIVE Process Refractometer PR-23-SD is a heavy-duty, digital refractometer for measuring black liquor dry solids % b.w. and green liquor density or TTA in kraft chemical recovery process.
Vaisala K-PATENTS SAFE-DRIVE Process Refractometer PR-23-SD complete system consists of:
- Retractable SAFE-DRIVE Process Refractometer Sensor
- SAFE-DRIVE Isolation Valve
- SAFE-DRIVE Retractor
- Steam Wash System
- Indicating Transmitter
SAFE-DRIVE design allows for safe and easy insertion and retraction of the sensor under full operating pressure without having to shut down the process.
The measurement range covers 0-100 % by weight. The accuracy is typically ±0.1 % b.w. and the measurement is automatically temperature compensated. Low and high concentration alarms can be configured. Because of the digital sensing technology, even large amounts of suspended solids, bubbles or color changes do not affect the measurement or the accuracy.
Each sensor is provided with a calibration certificate comparing a set of standard liquids to the actual sensor output. The calibration and accuracy can be verified on-site with the certified Refractive Index liquids.
Key Benefits
The SAFE-DRIVE Process Refractometer PR-23-SD is factory calibrated to measure refractive index nD and temperature T in standard units. Each sensor has identical whole range calibration nD=1.32...1.53 (corresponding to 0-100 %). Because the PR-23-SD sensors have identical calibration, and each sensor gives Refractive Index nD and temperature as output, all sensors can be freely interchanged without any inconvenience of optical calibration or parameter changes.
The SAFE-DRIVE is a safety design that consists of a sensor isolation valve and a retractor that allow for safe and easy insertion and retraction of the refractometer sensor under full operating pressure without having to shut down the process.
The refractometer has no lamps or moving parts requiring regular maintenance or recalibration. Users can simply 'install-and-forget', getting a low total cost of ownership.
Because of the digital sensing technology, even large amounts of suspended solids, bubbles or color changes do not affect the measurement or the accuracy.
